Lancer evolution x technical specifications. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX sedan. The main direction of modernization

On March 3, 2005, the 9th generation Lancer Evo appeared before the general public at the Geneva Motor Show and on the same day official sales began in Japan. America saw Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 9 only in April. Much has been modified and improved in the car, because the engine power has increased to 291 hp.

History of Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 9

The engineers did a good job so that on March 3, 2005, the Japanese could already drive the 9th generation Lancer Evolution. The new one included an improved turbocharger. The MIVEK system itself is an electronic control of gas distribution and valve lift in the engine. Thanks to the new power unit, the car's acceleration to 100 km/h was now 5.7 seconds, and the top speed was 250 km/h.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 9 retained a lot from its predecessor -. For example, the following details were saved:

  • Bilstein shock absorbers;
  • Roof air intake;
  • Alloy wheels;
  • Fog lights;
  • Aluminum roof;
  • 6-speed gearbox;
  • Additional measuring instruments for engine control;

The generations did not differ much in appearance. They were distinguished by their internal filling. Evo 9 was produced in three versions:

  • RS – 5-speed gearbox, aluminum roof, additional instruments, LCD monitor, possibility of installing the steering wheel on the left, titanium-magnesium turbine;
  • GT – 5-speed gearbox, similar in appearance to the RS package;
  • GSR – 6-speed transmission, additional instruments, active stability control (SAYC), aluminum roof, Bilstein shock absorbers;

In England, Evolution 9 was produced in several modifications:

  • FQ-300 – power 300 hp;
  • FQ-320 – power 320 hp;
  • FQ-340 – power 340 hp;

In the Philippines Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 9 sold until August 2008. There were 2 color schemes to choose from. The configuration offered finishing, as for the international level. The engine modifications were also not very different and the options offered in the Philippines were approximately the same as the versions for other countries.

Lancer Evolution 9 Wagon

The first Evo Wagon was released in 2005. This station wagon was developed on the basis of the Lancer Evo 9 sedan. 2 versions went on sale Evolution Wagon. A distinctive feature of the car are Brembo brakes and Bilstein shock absorbers.

Evolution Wagon configurations:

  • GT – 6 speeds, manual transmission, turbocharging, intercooler, 4 cylinders, power 280 hp.
  • GT-A – 5-speed, 4-cylinder engine, intercooler, turbocharging, power 272 hp;

Evolution MIEV

This is an electric version of the popular racing sedan Lancer Evolution. Unlike other electric motors, this model used a toroidal design, which is based on the location of the rotor outside the stator. The result of the experiment was stunning, which made it possible to further reduce the weight of the car. Power Evolution MIEV can be compared with standard petrol Evolution. In 2005, the car took part in the rally.

Mitsubishi Motors, the giants of the Japanese automotive industry, presented the anniversary version of their flagship – Lancer Evolution X.

The Lancer Evo series is a sports version of the Lancer car, whose production began back in 1973.

ATTENTION! A completely simple way to reduce fuel consumption has been found! Don't believe me? An auto mechanic with 15 years of experience also didn’t believe it until he tried it. And now he saves 35,000 rubles a year on gasoline!

Lancer in English means spearman, but it is also an ambiguous French verb, whose meaning is similar to the English verb to rush. One possible translation of lancer is to give impetus.

Likewise, the Lancer Evo 10 is fraught with enormous momentum and seems ready to take off at full speed at any second. This is exactly the case when the external impression completely coincides with the content.

The main distinguishing feature of a sports car from a regular one is speed. In this case, speed and Lancer Evo 10 are synonymous. The average acceleration speed to 100 km/h is 5.4 seconds, and in some models only 3.6 seconds.

What is good about the tenth Lancer Evolution besides speed?

Yes to everyone! And our review will tell you about this. First of all, it is good for its revolutionary engine of a new design - 4B11T 2.0l (1997cc). The Inline 4 is made of aluminum and, what’s especially nice, is turbocharged. Is the engine powerful? Very. Its minimum capabilities are 206 kW and 276 liters, respectively. The increase in power depends on the selected model, which differs by country of distribution.

Mitsubishi makes cars all over the world, but each region is slightly different. Lancer Evo 10 is released for Japan, Philippines, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, America and Europe (there is a UK version of Lancer Evo X). Since imports from the USA and Europe are most convenient in our latitudes, we will dwell in more detail on the models for these countries.

Europe VS America

Of the American models, the most notable is the MR. Engine performance: 217 kW (291 hp) at 6500 rpm and 407 Nm at 4400 rpm. By the way, all American models have the same characteristics. This model has suede and leather chairs. An audio control system is mounted on the steering wheel, and the interface can be controlled by voice using Bluetooth Hands-Free. There are also high-intensity Xeon headlights, and the suspension features Einbach springs and Bilstein struts. The transmission is a six-speed TC-SST.

In European models, the main difference from American ones is the engine, which has the following characteristics: 295 hp. With. (217 kW) at 6500 rpm and 366 N·m (270 lb·ft) at 3500 rpm. Only two models were released for Europe: GSR and MR TC-SST. The first model has a five-speed gearbox. The second model is equipped with Mitsubishi's multi-user communication system.

What about the regular Lancer 10?

The most powerful gasoline engine of the tenth Lancer has the following performance: 2.0 l 4B11T P4 turbo 295-359 hp, while the diesel engine is 1.8 l 4N13 P4 turbo 150 hp. Is it worth listing the other differences? Perhaps, let's focus on one more thing - the civilian version of the Lancer X does not have all-wheel drive suspension, which is also known as the S-AWC system.

Everything's under control

The S-AWC system is an abbreviation that stands for Super-All Wheels Control - all-wheel super control, in Russian. This means that the smart system is able to control all four wheels at the same time and send different torques at any time during the ride. This is especially important when driving in bad weather or on bad roads. That is why this model is especially relevant for our latitudes.

From inside and out

You have already gotten some idea of the Lancer's interior - voice interface, audio controls on the steering wheel, and so on. The steering wheel, by the way, has a leather braid. Leather interior is standard for the Lancer Evolution 10. In addition to leather, there are also options with fabric upholstery of sports seats, for example, suede.

Let's imagine the dimensions of the Lancer Evolution X, and to make it sound even more impressive, let's give the numbers in millimeters. So, the length is more than four meters - 4505mm. Width and height are 1810 mm and 1480 mm, respectively. Ground clearance (the distance from the ground to the lowest point in the central part of the car) is only 140 millimeters.

The rear and front wheels have identical diameters – 1545 mm. The main body material is aluminum. The Lancer weighs like a very large newborn elephant calf or two not very large ones (for reference, elephants at birth weigh 80-140 kg) - from 1420 to 1635 kg, although it looks more aggressive than baby elephants. It also has wings with an air intake.

How much is this baby elephant worth?

If you buy a new car, you will have to pay sixty thousand dollars for it.

The price on the secondary market is much more pleasant - 20-40 thousand dollars, but you can even find options for only 15 thousand.

I have a regular Lancer, how can I make it evolve?

For some time, there was an opinion among craftsmen that a civilian Lancer could not be modified to an evolutionary one. Until a man with golden hands was found who decided to test this statement in practice. Checked and refuted. We contacted the master to find out all the details and here is the list he provided us with:

  • Evolution X 4B11T engine assembled with manifolds -100 thousand rubles.
  • Turbine TD05 Evolution X - 20 thousand rubles.
  • Motor wiring Evolution X - 5 thousand rubles.
  • ECU of the Evolution X engine (don’t forget to write the VIN there) - 10 thousand rubles.
  • Thermostat and its housing Evolution X - 2 thousand rubles.
  • Reinforced clutch ACT (disc and basket) Lancer X - 22 thousand rubles.
  • Intercooler Evolution X - 10 thousand rubles.
  • Front bumper amplifier Evolution X - 6 thousand.
  • Piping set Evolution X - 10 thousand rubles.
  • Oil cooler and its hoses Evolution X - 10 thousand rubles.
  • Fuel pump assembly Evolution X - 5 thousand rubles.
  • Copper tube for the return fuel line - 800 rubles.
  • Good motor oil (I chose MOTUL 300V 5W30) - 6 thousand rubles.
  • Power steering fluid - 400 rub.
  • Antifreeze - 1500 rub.
  • Oil filter - 250 rub.
  • Oil in manual transmission - 900 rubles.
  • Oil in the transfer case - 450 rubles.
  • Sailing hood (MBL84020) – 20 thousand rubles.

This is the required minimum, without which you should not even begin installing the Evolution X engine.

But in my case there were also costs for:

  • Evolution X cylinder head - 20 thousand rubles.
  • Exhaust valves FERREA - 7600 rub.
  • Restoration of the cylinder head - 7 thousand rubles.
  • Cylinder head gasket - 1700 rub.
  • A bunch of spacers, fasteners and brackets - priceless
  • Evolution X headlight washer reservoir - RUB 1,800.
  • Good quality sealant - 700 rubles.
  • Evolution X cylinder head bolts - RUB 3,000.
  • Spark plugs - 2500 rub.
  • Lower intercooler mount – 1800 RUR.
  • Pipes and brackets - 7500 rub.

All of the above can be ordered online and you can proceed directly to modification.

Swap from Evo 10 to Lancer 10 is also possible, but why?

Need more evolution or how to swap Lancer

Of course, in the Lancer Evo it is possible to replace individual components (engine, body kit, camshafts, etc.) with improved ones and get a super-machine. Which components to change and which to leave as is depends only on your desires, needs and imagination. The most important thing is to find a workshop with qualified and experienced mechanics, otherwise your car may not work after an inept upgrade.

Still don't believe in the theory of evolution? Run to the nearest salon for a test drive and you will want to spend the rest of your life in this car (a long one, since Mitsubishi also took care of safety).

The history of the tenth generation Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution sports sedan begins in 2005, when the Japanese company presented the Concept-X concept model at the Tokyo Motor Show. In 2007, at the international auto show in Detroit, a pre-production version of the Prototype-X was presented to the public, and the official world premiere of the model took place in September of the same year in Frankfurt.

Even the regular Lancer 10 looks “evil”, so what can we say about the “Evolution”? The car is very charismatic, and the Evo exudes aggression with its entire appearance. The front part of the Japanese sports sedan looks “evil” due to the embossed front bumper with a pronounced “skirt”, the frowning “look” of the head optics (external lenses - bi-xenon, internal reflectors - cornering light) and a hood with ventilation holes.

The silhouette of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution in the latest body is swift and dynamic, and it is emphasized by “inflated” wheel arches that accommodate 18-inch “rollers” with low-profile tires, “gills” on the front wings (they serve a completely non-decorative role), and a roof sloping towards the rear and a big spoiler. The external aggression of the sedan can also be seen in the rear, just like the “predatory” lights (it’s a pity not LED) and the developed wing. But the diffuser with closely spaced exhaust pipes is the most controversial design solution.

In general, each of the design elements not only makes an aesthetic contribution, but also carries out a technical load: the body kit and spoiler improve aerodynamics and press the car to the road, and the ventilation holes remove hot air from the engine compartment and help cool the brake discs.

The “tenth” Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is a C-class sports sedan that has appropriate body dimensions. The length of the machine is 4505 mm, height – 1480 mm, width – 1810 mm. The front and rear track width is 1545 mm, and the distance between the axles is 2650 mm. From the road surface to the underbody, the Evo X has 140mm of ground clearance. The three-volume unit in running order weighs 1560-1590 kg, depending on the type of gearbox.

If the appearance of a “Japanese” is immediately perceived as a fit athlete, then the interior does not appear to be anything special. The instrument panel contains two deep “wells” that carry the most necessary information (speed and engine speed), everything else is displayed on the display between them. The center console looks simple, but you can’t fault the ergonomics - it houses the music control unit, the hazard warning buttons, the passenger airbag on/off switch, and three simple controls for the climate system.

What surprises Lancer Evolution X is its finishing materials - plastic is hard and loud almost everywhere, although it looks quite neat. But the seats are upholstered in high-quality Alcantara and leather, and the steering wheel and gearshift lever are also covered in the latter.

The sportiest elements in the interior of the Japanese sedan are a multi-steering wheel with paddle shifters and Recaro seats with pronounced lateral support. The seats themselves are quite comfortable and hold firm even in the steepest turns, but there is a fly in the ointment - they do not have height adjustment, and the steering wheel does not move longitudinally. As a result, it is difficult to find the most comfortable position.

The strong point of the “Evolution” in the tenth body is practicality. The rear sofa is designed for three passengers, who can sit there without any problems (however, the high transmission tunnel will cause discomfort to the legs of the middle rider). There is enough room in the knees, there is a reserve in width, and the roof does not put pressure on the heads.

The luggage compartment is small in volume - 243 liters, but a full-size spare tire is hidden under its raised floor. The shape of the “hold” is convenient, the opening is wide, and the wheel arches and lid hinges do not take up space. But in the cargo compartment there was room for a subwoofer, a washer fluid reservoir and a battery (they were placed at the rear for the sake of better weight distribution).

Specifications. The 10th generation Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit (four valves per cylinder). The engine is equipped with a turbocharger and MIVEC gas distribution system. To ensure minimum weight with maximum efficiency, the cylinder block, timing chain cover, cylinder head and other parts are made from lightweight aluminum. The maximum output of the turbo engine reaches 295 horsepower at 6500 rpm and 366 Nm of torque at 3500 rpm.
In tandem with the engine, only a 6-speed “robot” TC-SST with two clutch discs is offered; previously, a 5-speed “mechanics” was also available.
Well, the main feature of all Evo in the latest body is the all-wheel drive system with advanced electronics (the central differential is equipped with a multi-plate clutch, the “smart” rear differential is capable of twisting the necessary wheel for better cornering). In normal mode, traction is distributed between the axles in a ratio of 50:50, but depending on the situation, the center differential can be electronically locked.
This combination gives the Japanese sports sedan good dynamics and speed. Lancer Evolution X with automatic transmission takes 6.3 seconds to conquer the first hundred, with manual transmission – 0.9 seconds less.
The maximum speed in both cases is set at 242 km/h.
“Evolution” in the tenth body “eats” on average 10.7-12.5 liters of gasoline for every 100 km of travel in mixed mode, and fuel consumption in the city reaches 13.8-14.7 liters depending on the gearbox used (in favor of “mechanics”).

The “charged” sedan is built on the basis of the regular Mitsubishi Lancer X, but unlike it, it has a roof, front fenders, hood and deformable cross members under the bumper made of aluminum. The strength structure of the body is supplemented by a welded cross member behind the rear seat and struts.
The layout of the Evolution has remained virtually unchanged over the years: an all-round independent suspension with MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link design at the rear.
Brembo brakes (18-inch front, 17-inch rear) with ventilation are installed on all wheels. The rack and pinion steering is equipped with a hydraulic booster.

Options and prices. On the Russian market, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10 is offered only in the maximum version, Ultimate SST, for which they ask for 2,499,000 rubles (it is worth noting that deliveries of sedans to our country ended in the summer of 2014, and dealers are selling the remaining copies).
The car is “saturated” very richly - airbags (front and sides), climate control, ABS, ESP, bi-xenon headlights, PTF, full power accessories, leather interior, standard premium audio system (USB connector, Bluetooth ) and 18-inch wheels.

I would also like to note that since entering the market in 2007, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution in its tenth body has received several special versions:

  • In 2008, the most sophisticated sports sedan was introduced with the name GSR Premium Edition, which differs from the standard version only in some external elements, higher quality finishing materials and expensive equipment.
  • In 2009, the Evo X was prepared specifically for the UK market, codenamed FQ-330 SST, which received a 2.0-liter turbo engine boosted to 329 horsepower (torque - 437 Nm). A sports “robot” with six gears and an all-wheel drive transmission were offered for it, thanks to which acceleration to 100 km/h was reduced to 4.4 seconds, and the peak speed increased to 250 km/h.
  • In the same year, the British were offered an even more powerful version - the FQ400, under the hood of which an engine boosted to 400 horsepower (525 Nm of torque) was placed. This sports sedan sports new front and rear bumpers (with one exhaust pipe), door sills and a spoiler.
  • In general, the British are lucky people! In March 2014, in honor of the 40th anniversary of Mitsubishi’s presence in Europe, a limited edition of the “tenth” Lancer Evolution was prepared exclusively for residents of Foggy Albion. A distinctive feature of this car is a 2.0-liter turbo unit that produces 440 horsepower and 559 Nm of peak thrust. External changes to the FQ-440 MR include BBS wheels and a lowered suspension (front by 35 mm, rear by 30 mm).
  • The farewell version of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X was named Final Concept, and it belongs to the entire family of the iconic Japanese sedan. The car can be recognized by its forged wheels with a diameter of 19 inches and its black body color. But the most interesting thing is hidden under the hood - a “pumped” 2.0-liter engine with a modified intake/exhaust system, an HKS turbocharger and new software. This modernization made it possible to remove 480 “horses” from the engine instead of the stock 295 forces. Alas, the world will no longer see Evolution in this form, and it will be replaced by a compact sports crossover.

In 2005, Mitsubishi offered a new generation concept version at the 39th Tokyo Motor Show as the Concept-X.

In 2007, Mitsubishi announced the second Prototype-X concept car at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS).

Freshly baked Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X externally has changed dramatically compared to its predecessor Evolution IX. New Lancer Evolution X outwardly became more aggressive. From the fender to the hood, the headlight tapers, which, together with the radiator grille and front bumper, which form the effect of an open mouth, gives the face Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X aggressiveness and chic.

In the new Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X a new aluminum 2-liter turbocharged engine was developed and supplied 4B11T. Due to the aluminum cylinder block, it was possible to reduce weight by 12 kg and reduce the amount of harmful emissions.

Power and torque depend on the market to which the new one will be supplied. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, but all versions will have at least 276.2 hp. (JDM version). The UK model will be made in accordance with previous versions M.R. And FQ. UK versions will come with 300bhp. and 360 hp There will be 2 versions for the USA Lancer Evolution X MR with 6-speed gearbox (TC-SST) and Lancer Evolution X GSR with a 5-speed gearbox.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X like its predecessors, it has all-wheel drive. Mitsubishi has developed a new, more advanced version of the all-wheel drive system S-AWC(Super All Wheel Control), which combines the level of engine torque distribution and brake control. The system, as before, has three operating modes (Snow, Gravel and Tarmac). New Lancer Evolution X has a more advanced ASC stabilization system.

Body Lancer Evolution X became much stronger. In order to lower the center of gravity, not only the roof was made of aluminum, but also the front fenders and frame with a wing.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X become more comfortable, the interior has become spacious and comfortable. In audio terms, the car can be equipped upon request with a 650-watt amplifier and 9 speakers.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X went on sale on October 1, 2007 in Japan, followed by January 2008 in the US, February in Canada, and March 2008 in the UK.

Final Concept 2015

Already at the very beginning of the new 2015, Mitsubishi is going to release the final copy of the Lancer Evolution X model - Final Concept. The new version is distinguished by a matte black body color (the rear spoiler and roof are made glossy), as well as original applications on the side parts. The car's wheels are mounted on black aluminum wheels with a diameter of 19 inches from RAYS with Yokohama Advan Neova tires and chrome rims. The conversion is completed with calipers from Brembo.

Under the hood is an improved 2-liter gasoline engine. Thanks to a re-flashed electronic engine control unit, installation of new cooling systems and exhaust, as well as turbines from HKS, the engineers were able to achieve an increase in power to 473 hp. The engine is combined with a 5-speed manual transmission, which provides traction to all 4 wheels.

The premiere of the car will take place at the Motor Show in the Japanese city of Tokyo, and the price of the farewell version will reach $40,000.

This sedan, number nine (Lancer Evolution IX), was developed on the basis of the previous EvoVIII MR model. Characteristic features of the appearance: a hitherto unprecedented shape of the front bumper, which, according to the developers, improves engine cooling and reduces the lift of the oncoming air flow, and a spoiler with a variable angle of attack (installed as an option). To prevent vortex flows from acting on the body from bottom to top, the lower part of the rear bumper is made in the form of a diffuser. But that is not all. The rear part of the rear spoiler is supplemented with a wing (optional). As on the base model, the cabin roof is made of aluminum alloy. This allows you to reduce the weight of the machine, as well as lower its center of gravity to some extent. As for the behavior of the car on the move, since the body height has become slightly lower than that of its predecessor, the EvoVIII MR, stability has improved somewhat. The engine is equipped with an automatic variable valve timing and valve opening system (MIVEC), which makes it possible to achieve greater throttle response and reduce fuel consumption, as well as make exhaust gases more environmentally friendly. There are two types of transmission: on the RS and GT modifications there is a 5-speed gearbox with manual shifting, and on the GSR car there is a 6-speed gearbox (also manual). The all-wheel drive system is still complemented by the Super AYC device (torque distributor between the right and left wheels of the same axle), and ADC (torque distributor between the front and rear axle).
